ISP-500 uniform light source
Uniform Light Sources, such as the ISP-500, are used for a variety of applications including calibration of sensors, cameras and even quality control for photographic paper.
As an example, for testing a panoramic video camera, the device under test is pointed into the sphere and any non-uniformities of the imaging system can be observed. Because the light source is known to be uniform then we know that any non-uniformity must be derived from the camera itself (imaging system or sensor) rather as the source is known to be uniform.
